Re: make love
Wed, December 13, 2006 - 9:15 PMI have spent so many years in the dyke community. I wont say how many.
dated more womyn than I can probably remember.
and never in even one of my relationships did i/we call sex 'making love'.
It was always called fucking, fucking around, having sex, making out, doing it, messing around...
I always put it to 'making love' was kind of a heterosexual term.
At least it always felt that way to me and while I hooked up with
someone recently who was formerly straight most her life,
she used the 'make love' term and felt me odd for not using it.
I mean seriously in 20+ years of dating womyn, we never said it.
So i'm curious,
does anyone else in the dyke community use this term?
or feel the heterosexual vibe it gives off?
or is it just me and everyone i've ever dated? -

Re: make love
Fri, December 15, 2006 - 2:25 AMI've felt made love to for sure by women/genderqueers.
The funny thing is, I'm not sure though moments met
my technical definition of sex....

Re: make love
Wed, December 20, 2006 - 9:06 PMmy partner and i have been together for 12 years and i think we actually only call it 'making love' when one or the other of us (or both) is feeling shy. i know, sounds funny to feel shy if you've been together for 12 years. but we still really, really love and lust over each other and that's just how it works for us... anyhow, we have a pet name for it that we usually use but i'm not telling here cuz it's really goofy. 'making love' does feel awkward and wierd to me too. yeah, kind of het now that i think about it...

Re: make love
Mon, February 5, 2007 - 5:30 AMFor me it depends on the level of commitment. You can screw around with random people or with a "fuck buddy". Making love is reserved for your partner and brings with it a greater depth of sensitivity and emotion than just having sex.
Just another personal opinion.
